Polochar Inn stands in a beautiful location at the south-west tip of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Built on the water’s edge, it is the perfect base for peaceful walks along the island’s stunning beaches, taking in views of Eriskay and Barra.

This 4 star inn was once a change-house: a place where one could wait for the ferry when travelling between South Uist and Eoligarry on Barra. The original building dates back to circa 1750 and retains many of its original features; it is now privately owned by local sisters Morag MacKinnon and Margaret Campbell whose aim is to ensure you sample true island hospitality and comfort while exploring this wonderful part of the Outer Hebrides.

This 4 star hotel comprises 11 en-suite bedrooms, all recently refurbished and with sea views. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, a television with DVD player, trouser press & iron, telephone, hairdryer and extra blankets to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible.

To keep you in touch we also have wifi free for our guests anywhere at the Inn.

There is a cosy residents’ lounge with television and a lounge bar and public bar, both with open fires. There is also a large function area with pool table and dart board and sky t.v

The dining room, with views over the sea to Barra and Eriskay, can seat up to 40 people.

During the summer months on Saturday nights we have live music in our public bar, till a round 1am, please come along and unwind with us.

Polochar Inn finalist of the Highlands and Islands food awards 2008, specialises in local seafood as well as delicious meat and pasta dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Enjoy your meal in the dining room with its stunning sea views, or relax in front of the fire in one of our bars.

In summer, the beer garden is ideal for watching the brilliant sunsets, and dolphins can sometimes be seen playing in the sea at the front of the hotel.
