On the western edge of Europe, in the wild waters of the Atlantic Ocean, lie the dramatic, beautiful and unspoilt Western Isles. Sometimes better known as the Outer Hebrides, these bastions of Gaelic language and culture are a world away from the mainland of Britain.

Grogarry Lodge nestles between the majestic Ben Môr and twenty miles of blinding white sand beaches. Eagles swoop and soar from the towering 2,200 ft peak over hills and lochs where a wild herd of pure Red Deer graze on the heather.

Accommodation

Though the date of construction is not known, Grogarry Lodge was originally built by the Laird of the Long Island Estate and it’s age is indicated by the fact that it was ‘modernised’ over one hundred and twenty years ago. Today, the Lodge is offered on an exclusive use basis, which is a fully serviced experience difficult to find in the modern world.

The dedicated staff provide all meals, with much of the produce coming from the islands, and the picnic lunches come in hampers that may take two people to carry.
With eight bedroms, offering accommodation in twin and double rooms for up to sixteen guests, the lodge is perfect for family groups and friends. A rare home away from home, the lodge does not offer bland, hotel-style facilities, but rather a country home experience.
Fireplaces in both the sitting rooms add romance as well as warmth on a windy night. The well stocked wine cellar provides the ideal complement to the traditional Scottish cooking, served in the grand dining room, which restores strength at the end of a strenuous day outdoors.

Downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms and wide doorways also make the lodge accessible for those with mobility problems.

Bedrooms

The eight bedrooms are served by five bathrooms, shower rooms and WCs, helpfully dotted around the building.

There are six twin and two double rooms, all named after crofting townships on the ancient estate the lodge serves. The master bedroom offers grand vistas across Grogarry Loch to the Atlantic Ocean and over the croft land that forms the bedrock of the local community.

Pricing

The Lodge is let on an exclusive use and fully inclusive basis, for groups of up to 16 people for short breaks and full weeks, with the following included in the package where appropriate:

• Full cooked breakfasts.
• Traditonal island food for evening meals – scallops, salmon, venison.
• Packed lunches to keep you going in the most strenuous activity.
• Activities – fishing, wildfowling, birdwatching, nature walks, golf.
• Other activities by arrangement.
• Airport/ferry transfers.

Prices vary throughout the season, depending on the sport and activities chosen, and offer an attractive option for groups of family and friends. For a group, the cost compares favourably with hotel accommodation.

Special packages are available by arrangement, including weddings, anniversaries and family get-togethers. Fiddles, pipes and ceilidhs can be laid on by request. Alternatively, the Lodge offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in peace and quiet, with relaxation and fine food in front of peat fires.
