Welcome to the Sands Hotel

Four star recently upgraded character building situated along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. All rooms are en suite overlooking the beach and pier where local fishermen work from. Our busy restaurant is open daily serving lunches, bar meals and a la carte, fresh local produce is used whenever possible. The hotel is completely non-smoking.

The Sands Hotel, originally built as a fish store in 1860, has been recently refurbished and upgraded to provide a high standard of both bed and breakfast and Self Catering accommodation in Burray Village.

The imposing building overlooks Burray Harbour, Watersound Bay and South Ronaldsay. The village shop and Burray Post Offce are just 2 minute's walk away and there is also a garage nearby. The Sands Hotel is just 4 miles from the Pentland Ferries terminal at St Margarets Hope.
The hotel is very popular with tourists during the Summer season as a central base for exploring Orkney. It is also especially popular with divers who come to Orkney to dive the wrecks in Scapa Flow. The flag pole outside the building was once on the German Steamer Ilsenstein.

The Sands Hotel - B & B Accommodation
Guest accommodation consists of 6 ensuite bedroom with sea views. Two double rooms, two twin rooms and two family rooms. All rooms are spacious and have splendid sea views over the harbour. All rooms have en-suite facilities, tea & coffee making facilities and remote control TV. We regret, no pets can be accepted.

Two newly refurbished family suites - modern but very tastefully decorated with a double and a twin room, en-suite, small kitchenette, spacious and relaxing sitting area with views over the village pier and out towards Scapa Flow. All rooms have TV, Phone, Radio Alarm and access to Wi-fi Internet.
