Hamnavoe Hostel and Apartments Orkney Scotland

Refurbished to a high standard, the Hamnavoe Hostel first opened its doors to island visitors in the summer of 2006. The hostel has six rooms - single, twin and family, with one recently-upgraded en-suite room.

All rooms are tastefully decorated to offer you a pleasant stay in tranquil surroundings with stunning views out across Hamnavoe - see the picture to the right..

All rooms (with the exception of the single room) have their own wash hand basin and easy access to shower, bathroom and toilet on each floor.

The only VisitScotland Four Star graded hostel on the Orkney Mainland, the Hamnavoe Hostel provides accommodation for up to 13 people in six rooms.

The largest room sleeps four, while the smallest sleeps one. All rooms are fitted with pine bunk beds with single mattresses. All rooms, except the single room, are equipped with a wash-hand basin with shower/bathroom facilities on each floor.

We refurbished one of our bedrooms in 2007, giving it a full wet room en-suite.

All towels and bed linen are provided free of charge.

The Hamnavoe Apartments are two newly-built studio apartments on the seafront overlooking the north end of the bay, in Stromness.

The apartments are finished to a very high standard throughout with a fully fitted kitchen/lounge, separate bedroom and en-suite shower room.

The apartments are light and modern in their décor with large leather sofa and chair in the lounge, solid beech kitchen and large windows overlooking the harbour front.

The lower apartment is slightly elevated and enjoys views across the bay towards the north-east and Orphir and is more suited to the less mobile as the top apartment is located up a set of steps directly above.

The lower apartment has an area outside to sit and relax where you can enjoy your breakfast in the morning sunshine and the upper apartment has a glass panel balcony making the most of the views on offer.
