BARONY HOTEL

The Barony Hotel is a family run hotel which stands on the shores of the Boardhouse Loch in Birsay.

It is surrounded by 3 excellent bird reserves and is close to 4 other trout fishing lochs.

Archaeological sites are abundant in Orkney, a few of which are near us.

The shores and cliffs around Birsay are ideal for walking.

Most of our rooms are en suite and all have tea/coffee making facilities.

We have a large lounge bar from which we serve from our extensive supper menu. Beef, fish and shellfish feature high on our menu as it is all locally produced. Most of our dishes are prepared to order to maintain the freshness of our local produce.

This makes the Barony Hotel an ideal base for your bird watching,trout fishing, walking or getting to know Orkney holiday.

Within easy reach of the hotel are the main fishing lochs of Harray, Swanney and Hundland.

Boardhouse Loch is only a walk down the lawn and has surpassed both Harray and Swanney as Orkney's top fishing loch for the past 3 years as quoted by Malcolm Russell's monthly reports in the Trout & Salmon.

We have boats for hire and a private harbour.
