The Old Schoolroom is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.  Situated on the Hebridean isle of Islay you will be well placed for exploring Islay, Jura and Colonsay.

 

A recently renovated Victorian schoolroom, The Old Schoolroom offers 4 star accommodation for up to 4 adults.  We are members of Visitscotland and have attained 4star rating through their accreditation system.

 

Islay is renowned for its wildlife and whisky.  The Old Schoolroom is the perfect place to unwind after a hard day relaxing!

The Old Schoolroom is run in an environmentally friendly way, the heating is very efficient and the combi boiler also provides the hot water.  Eco friendly cleaning products are used, low energy bulbs are used, we provide you with a compost caddy and will recycle all of your glass, most plastics and paper for you.  All veggies are grown without herbicide, pesticides and we use organic fertilisers.  The chickens are fed on an organic diet and give us fantastic eggs.  We are allergy aware.

 

What to expect

 

The Old Schoolroom has been renovated to a high standard with love and attention!  Accommodation comprises of the double bedroom, the twin bedroom, hall, porch, bathroom (with both a shower and a bath), the lounge (with eating area) and kitchen.

 

The Old Schoolroom is double glazed, insulated and has underfloor heating.  There is a peat buring stove in the lounge for those chillier nights.  The garden is private with a lawn area and a seating area, there is a bar-b-que too.

 

The Old Schoolroom is fully equipped, all you need to bring are yourselves!  Bedding, linen and towels are provided at no extra cost.  We have highchairs, cots, a buggy and other ' baby bits' available if needed (also for no extra cost).

 

As a welcome there are freshly baked scones, eggs from our chooks, produce from the garden, local milk and Scottish butter.

 

The kitchen is stocked with teas, coffee, sugar, oils, stock cubes, garlic and other wee bits and pieces to make your stay easier.

 

 

Location:

 

We are centrally located in Bridgend and are handy for the ferries (to Jura and Colonsay).  We are situated on a bus route and have storage for bicycles and other equipment.

 

We are allergy aware and cannot cater for pets.

 

We are open all of the year around and can cater for short breaks during the Autumn, Winter and Spring.  During the summer the rental week runs from one Saturday at 3pm to the following Saturday at 10am.
